There are two spacious and comfortable house in a traditional neighborhood patrimonial San Marcos in the historic center of Quito, near major transportation systems of the city and tourist sites rooms. BIT OF QUITO Junin street that both hearing his name from the mouth of my parents stuck in my memory, I never met him, nor the San Marcos neighborhood which is their only means of entry and exit. In my many central walks, I never strayed from this singular driveway so picturesque architecture. It is that, barely, returning from Flores to see the section that is now peatonizado and pulled me to commit me nothing beyond its curvature. The he perceived as miserable and lacking attractions and its neighborhood as a sector of the city almost nondescript. Digging my memory I remember in one of those houses, just at that aforementioned stretch, reaching the corner of Montufar, in rooms located in the basement, he lived an old woman in my teens knew prodigarme concoctions for my winter soul, I say more, and perhaps my memory kept a kindly feeling sector. A time was also red area for its proximity to the famous "Flowers" but now cleaned your complexion with water again dawn. In light of this, I see the same house some manor almost like a Spanish palace restored, rehabilitated neighboring houses and the same destugurizada narrow street, although perhaps even in their worst years, was similar to the other blocks of the surrounding neighborhoods, where engulfing and until today the lumpen, trash, prostitution, alcoholism, trade and other herbs. Do not. Junin is by definition a healthy street, a park, a church, a convent, a school, several artists' studios, two museums, various cultural centers and, above all, a neighborhood that protects it. The neighbors, similar to what happened in Guápulo are many-colored. Traditional families and their descendants we would say the natives-and I would like to call relatives, formed by gringos, artists, South American and other birds, give it a subtly cosmopolitan atmosphere along its length just four blocks from flowing into spoon breast.  No end in sight social profiles, everything runs in a harmonious discretion and is not only the architectural part, but the neighborhood who live here. It is a community where everyone knows everyone. This morning, taking advantage of the soft early sun, just walked around here and entered the home of Jorge Barrera inlaid discoursing on this bit of Quito and then come together in our common perception. While polishing a wooden coffered ceiling in his hands, he looked up and said: -San Marcos is wonderful ... and nobody knows ...  GR.
