Typical Berber home in Tighza
My name is Mohamed, my family members are Carolyn my wife, Oliver (our son) Ahmed (my brother), my father who is in his late 90's and my mother who is in her early 60s. You are very welcome to our home. Our home is a typical stone and earth built Berber house 1900m above sea level in the High Atlas mountains. It is common to see small shell fossils on rocks here. We have some wildlife which we have been told that is only found in the High Atlas. There are many walks and treks in the local area including a 4.5 hour walk up to lake Tamda where it is possible to camp overnight. We have dinosaur footprints on the opposite side of the valley. We are only 17km from Telouet the local souk which takes place on Thursday and where the Glaoui kasbah can be found, known from Gavin Maxwell's book lords of the Atlas. Carolyn is 43. She speaks English and French and enjoys cooking, watching movies, music, festivals, reading, photography, travel, gardening, nature, and board games. Mohamed is 31 and enjoys playing football and watching tennis, Berber music, , socialising, travel, television, nature, and board games. He speaks Arabic, French and some English. Carolyn has 1 child living at home but Carolyn and Oliver are only in Tighza during school holidays.
