I live with my partner, Ian, and our two sons, William, 21 and Gabriel 18. We have hosted on and off for about 10 years. With two young adults living with us now, you need to enjoy a lively, sometimes noisy home! We speak English and I enjoy cooking, watching films, reading, gardening, and being outdoors. I work from home on some days, so may be available in the day time during your stay. I am happy to help you settle in as much as I can. Our house is a busy family home, so it's best for you if you are a young person yourself, or don't mind the noise of gaming and music! We enjoy learning about other cultures, one of my son's is very sporty and the other is very interested in music so anyone with these passions will really fit in. We also have a young, small dog, who is quite vocal, we hope you will enjoy making friends with her. We do have a lovely peaceful garden though! I do offer a vegetarian main meal at 7pm each day, for an additional charge, please ask me about this. The facilities in the room are a hair-dryer, lamp, hanging rail and all linens. We live in a brilliant area of town, buses into the centre take 15 mins, you can walk in 30 and equally to walk into the countryside takes 10 mins. We live near the friendly shops and cafes of Fiveways, and walkable to local parks and tennis courts.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Rachels place. I felt very welcome and loved the long conversations over dinner. Can only recommend it!

Rachel’s homestay felt like I was home, really nice and warm. Casual conversations over the evening meals were the best part. Absolutely no regrets staying here. Highly recommend !

I lived with Rachel and her lovely family for almost six months, and I don't think I could have hoped for a better place to stay. As they are used to host strangers, Rachel's family immediately made me feel welcome and part of their family. My room was spacious, with an incredible mattress, and the house is very beautiful, in a nice neighbourhood. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a host family in Brighton! Thank you again for everything Rachel !

Rachel is a very open-hearted woman who is always helpful and kind! I stayed with her for one month and we always got along very well. On my first day I arrived nearly at midnight because my flight was late but that wasn't a problem for her luckily! She even made a tea and a hot-water bag for me. In my room she left shampoo, shower gel, some snacks, a map of Brighton, magazines and some things more. Her dog is just lovely and I fell in love with him since the first second I saw him :) The bus stop is a 2 minutes walk away with a very good connection to the city centre. The only negative thing I have to mention is that her son goes to bed early and the walls are very thin so you have to be very quiet in the evening. All in one it was a great stay with Rachel and her family! I'm so thankful for all her help and I would be happy to see her again.

I really admire the host but I have to give my opinion regarding my homestay. Advantages: you have the house keys from the first moment, nice breakfast and suppers and the host is happy for you to come and go as you please. Disadvantages: it shouldn't be offered as a homestay but just as a room to sleep at night. The whole house tends to be in a real mess, it's quite difficult to study or take a nap in the afternoon due to the noise and sometimes you don't feel very welcome when you join the family in the common areas such as in the kitchen. It's impossible to go into the dinning room to watch t.v..

Rachel was a great host! I stayed with her for a little over 3 months. Her cooking was delicious and she always willing to help me with any questions I had about England, Brighton, or traveling. She was very considerate and welcomed me in. The house was a little wild at times with her son (very energetic), but it was manageable. The location was good for getting to uni and for going into town. Bus stops were close and my ride times either way were about 15-20 minutes.

Rachel is a lovely and very welcoming host. I stayed 4 months with her and had an unforgettable time. Her house is very cosy that is sometimes in a little mess but it doesn't lose its cosiness because of Rachel's care. The room is decorated with loving care and the bed is very comfortable. Rachel is a very good cook and I enjoyed to get to know the vegetarian cuisine. She is open-minded and helps whenever she can. I loved spending time with her family and she became a real friend to me. I'm looking forward to see her again and I recommend you to get to know the British culture in Rachels house and to spend some time with her.
