Cookridge, leeds
My house is in a quiet area of leeds, where the nearest pub is .7 of a mile away. We're about 6 miles from city centre with bus every 15 minutes and half hourly train service. It's a 10 - 15 minute walk to bus stop or train station. There is a regular train service from the local station Horsforth to leeeds, Harrogate, Knaresborough and York, and a local bus service to Ilkley. In summer I spend lots of time gardening. I have 2 rooms with desk and lamp, wardrobe, mirror, fridge. All rooms have TV. For those working from home, we have very good wifi. We have 2 house bathrooms. One of the guest bedrooms is on the first floor, where the bathroom has a wash basin and toilet. The house bathroom with toilet, washbasin, bath and shower is on the ground floor. We both enjoy doing jigsaws and you might have to share the dining table with a jigsaw board. My house is big but my kitchen is small, but I'm sure we can both fit in to prepare meals if we tidy up as we go along. You can also use my freezer if you label your food. We do our own evening meal for about 7 o'clock. We all eat breakfast at different times, so help yourself to a selection from cereals, tea, coffee, orange juice, eggs, toast, pancakes, pain au choc etc. A few local places do breakfast brunch type meals, but they are maybe a mile away. Tea and coffee is available all day. Doreen is 76 and retired, and enjoys cooking, reading, socialising, walking, television, playing bridge, Wordle, jigsaws and gardening. Brian is 80 and retired, and plays online games, jigsaws, Wordle, Sudoku, and other puzzles, and enjoys cooking since retiring. I have four grandchildren who live locally and often come to stay. I have a hairdryer and straighteners you ca
... n use, and I provide towels and bedding. If you're staying for a few weeks, I'll leave spare bedding out for you so you can change your own when you want, or my cleaner can do it when she comes on a Friday. Spare towels are kept in the bathroom so that you can get clean ones when you want. I like to recycle where poss, so please ask what goes in which of the coloured bins. As Homestay say it's up to us to check out any visitors, I usually ask if I can photograph a passport, ID card or visa just to confirm identity, much the same way as hotels do. I would also expect you to have complied with the UK rules on travel if you have come from outside the UK. Sorry for all this, but it's the times we are living in now. Hope this is ok with you. Payment should be in cash, one night on arrival, and the rest of the week the next day if everything's ok. Guests staying a few weeks can pay by BACS if that's easier. Your room will be available from 1.00 pm, and should be vacated by 11.00 am. The day of arrival should be no later than 9 pm, subsequent days you come and go as you please
