So much to do in York medieval city

Retired but still active, we welcome travellers to our wonderful York, to experience real Yorkshire hospitality, food and the unique culture the area has to offer. We let out 2 rooms, both light and airy and with stunning views over a field, a golf course and a little lake, yet we are just 3 stops on a bus that goes to the city centre every 10 minutes! You can just stay, or let us show you this fantastic area. No pets here, but we feed the garden birds that come into our little private garden. Our house is over 100 and we furnish it with a mix of antique and modern furniture, but it is always comfortable, clean and cosy. We have a big shared, busy family room and a quiet lounge. We enjoy cooking local and international meals, will cater for special diets for a small extra price, but you can also use the modern kitchen for drinks and snacks only. Please note, we now reserve the right to refuse guests if the coronavirus is a threat.

The first thing to say is that these lovely people Ruth and Alan saved me by accepting my offer last moment when I was already in York and had no place to stay because the other landlord cancelled my booking unexpectedly. I was extremely positively surprised by the kindness, helpfulness of the landlords. They were willing to give a hand in every way I needed. I had some lovely chats, went to food festival together and even played at the bridge club which was extremely fun. Overall GREAT people and FANTASTIC accommodation!! :) Will not find any better one. :)

I was fortunate to be able to do a homestay in Ruth's house. Ruth and Allan treated me with warm hospitality. I was really happy that they made my wish come true. They drove me around a lot of places for a small fee. Allan was a nice driver, and Ruth was a wonderful tour guide. Ruth who was an English teacher taught me a lot of different things and it was a lot of fun. Besides, I was relaxed because the house was in a so peaceful place. I’d love to stay there again in the near future.

Ruth and Allan have been wonderful. They were very helpful, easy-going, had lots of ideas for places to go and things to do, and were both very nice and knowledgeable guides too. The room is very comfortable, and the location is perfect.

Ruth and Alan are very caring and thoughtful hosts. We had the whole upper room for us. There were no other guests at this time. They showed us around when they had time and showed us some of the Yorkshire secret places which we never would have found on our own. Thank you so much! Additionally they introduced different British meals to us during dinner. Thank you for this gift :-)) We can highly recommend to stay with them.

Ruth and Alan are amazing people!! They are always available to help the guests and they go above and beyond in order to make them feel welcome. Their meals are scrumptious (they even offer traditional dishes from the Yorkshire!) and they are more than happy to show the guests around the city. Wonderful experience for sure.
