Staying with Wanich (Pluck) and his mother in the hills north of Chiang Mai was one of the most fantastic travelling experiences I've had in the 10 years of travel. The accommodation is a newly built, yet simple concrete hut that overlooks uninterrupted hills of trees. It is such a tranquil and peaceful place to unwind, relax and learn about Thai culture. During my stay Pluck gave me a true local Thai experience by arranging the following activities: - Tour of their tiny local village including being welcomed into one families' home for a traditional Thai dessert - Walking through a rice paddy field and meeting the family that run it - Taught how to cook authentic Tom Yum Goong soup by his mother - Being introduced and blessed by the local Monk (worthy of a donatoin) - Thai herb hot shower If you want to escape the hustle and crowds of the cities and experience the real Thai way of life, you must inquire to stay with Pluck. While his place is a couple of hours North of Chiang Mai, it's the perfect distance to escape the crowds and to enjoy the mountains. Highly Highly Recommend!
