I and my wife retired from the buzzles of Bangkok and built our dream home and garden to enjoy simple life in Chiangdao, one of the hidden gems of northern Thailand. With only one-and-a-half-hour drive (75 km north) from Chiangmai, Chiangdao offers a serene break from the busyness of the city. We both are well traveled, enjoy good food and meeting people. Our house was built on a 6 rai (about 2.4 acre) of land that is about 8 km east of Doi luang Chiangdao, the third highest mountain in Thailand, at 2,200 m above sea level. Both our house and the villa we offer for rent are built on elevated land overlooking the garden, pond, and have a panoramic view of Doi luang Chiangdao. Your residence - the only one, is a private villa with a beautiful view of Doi luang, from the bedroom, living room and balcony. Apart from the villa, guests will have access to the entire land. I and my wife live in a house which is only 20-30 meters from the villa that we offer for rent. Therefore the interactions between guests and host will be convenient and often during the stay. Guests are welcome to participate in outdoor activities such as gardening which is my wife's favorite hobby. I used to work in a telecom service company, and my wife in hotel industry, both in Bangkok, before our retirement. We were married for over forty years and used to live together in Auckland,NZ, and in Indiana, USA, before coming back to Thailand. My wife also used to live in Canada and Australia for a few years before that. I play golf occasionally. My wife loves to grow everything, trees, flowers, vegetable, pot plants. We have a dog which we brought with us from Bangkok, and have adopted a few cats since we moved here. We enjoy all types of foods: i.e.; Thai, local northern, western, Japanese, and Chinese foods. My wife can do some simple western dishes. We have a bicycle and plan to add another one so that guests can ride around the area.
