It is a spacious house on a mountain side. A waterfall, stream, tea estates and beautiful scenery all around you, yet, it is almost walking distance (3 km) from the Kandy city centre by road! Or, you can walk to the Kandy-Colombo main road in 10 min. There is a bus to the city, just 850 m from the house, or you can take taxi/tuk tuk. A nice, quiet and scenic area with lot of wild life. Wild boar, porcupine, wild cat/leopard, mongoose, pole cat and some occasional deer can be seen at times. Tea estate, tea museum, bird park and a famous mountain top temple as well as reserved forest and lot of walking trails available around the house. A hike to Hanthana hill range is also a choice. All the attractions in Kandy city (Perahera in August, Vesak in May, Kandy lake, Temple of Tooth etc. etc.), are within a 3-4 km from the house. Sigiriya & Nuwara Eliya are about 90 km and Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is 45km. Spacious room with two beds is available. An air mattress or a sleeping bag can be provided for an additional person/s. Clean bathroom (with hot water shower and bath tub) and other facilities are available. There are two small gardens at the front and at the rear. large living area with open spaces. This is strictly for non-smokers - Sorry smokers!

Was my first experience using HomeStay and I really enjoy the experience, Akalan and his Wife were just perfect hosts, breakfast and dinner were nourishing and simply delicious. The house is up in Kandy but not that far from the town so you can easily walk or take a tuc tuc. The environment is quite and fresh, and the house has lovely views. I highly recommend you to stay with them.
