Eli's homestay is back with renovated brand new apartment, at your service. It has one air conditioned bedroom with attached bathroom, a pantry area and a living room all for yourself. Right above your room is my small little cafe where I can serve you food at all times. The beach is 5 feet away and the UNESCO town is all in walking distance. I also have a wonderful terrace for guest who are interested in yoga or sunbathing. The terrace overlooks the lawns of Radisson blue hotel and the vast ocean. Welcome home.

Staying with at Liz’ home was a great experience. Liz does great cooking in her café and is always open for a chat. As she reads a lot, there is always something to talk about. I would definitely recommend this place if you like to meet people and stay next to the beach where fishermen bring their daily catch ashore. Thank you Liz for hosting me!

Leider hatten wir überhaupt keine gute Erfahrung bei Liz gemacht. Wir haben via homestay für den Jahresbeginn 2017 den < orange room > für umgerechnet 20€ pro Nacht für 3 Tage gebucht und bestätigt bekommen. Ein paar Wochen später hat sich der Host per email gemeldet und eine Verdoppelung des Preises verlangt und damit unsere Homestay Buchungsbedingungen ignoriert. Bei unserer Ankunft fanden wir das Zimmer muffelig, das Bett schmuddelig, das Badezimmer schäbig und dreckig vor. Das Dachterassen Restaurant war nicht vorhanden (dies scheint wohl in einem anderen Haus in der Stadt zu sein). Der Homestay ist auch keinesfalls in der „Othawadai Street" sondern einige (enge und dunkle) Gassen entfernt. Wir fühlten uns dort überhaupt nicht wohl und haben uns sofort ein anderes Zimmer gesucht, welches super schön, gross und wirklich sauber und dazu noch preiswert war. Zuvor hatten wir auf Homestays online gekündigt und Liz angeboten 50 USD Entschädigung zu zahlen. Liz hat uns die Kündigung recht übel genommen und 100 US Dollar verlangt. Sie hat uns auf der Strasse beschimpft und Ihre Kollegen bei der Touristenpolizei angerufen. Wir fühlten uns genötigt ihr die 100 USD zu geben, obwohl wir laut Kündigungs-Bedinungen von Homestay in keinster Weise verpflichtet waren, irgendeine Art von Entschädigung zu zahlen. Unser Aufenthalt in Mahabalipuram war damit ziemlich ruiniert und wir hatten dadurch wenig Freude an dem Ort.

Die Unterkunft - inmitten der Fishermans Colony - ist genial gelegen: Ganz nahe am Strand und mitten im Städtchen. Liz ist eine sehr unkompliziert freundliche und geschäftstüchtige Gastgeberin. Wäre die Bettwäsche (wegen der Hitze!) aus Naturfasern, und das Bad etwas sauberer, hätte die Unterkunft 5 Herzen von uns bekommen.
