Düsseltal, is a traditionally affluent district of Düsseldorf, which originally developed around a monastery.
Among the population, the district is often called Zooviertel, or zoo for short, and the name of the Düsseldorf-Zoo S-Bahn station refers accordingly to this frequently used district name.
Düsseltal is one of the upmarket residential areas in Düsseldorf; the area around the Zoopark is particularly sought-after and correspondingly high-priced. In the area around Hans-Sachs-Straße there are many villa-like buildings, which are often owner-occupied homes. Condominiums are also common in Düsseltal.
The S-Bahn stations Düsseldorf Zoo (located in the Pempelfort district) and Düsseldorf Derendorf (located in the Derendorf district) are just beyond the district boundary.
