My stay went above and beyond my expectations. WOW!! What an amazing 31 days it’s been since I arrived in Jordan on May 31st. There’s so much that I did, but I’ll give a synopsis of my time there: Week 1: After arriving at the airport in Amman and meeting Bev, her daughter, and her two grandchildren, we talked about the Jordan culture and what to expect during my time there. We drove to Wadi Musa (Valley of Moses) and I immediately felt a spiritual connection. Bedayah Bed and Breakfast is like a page out of a magazine. The place is spectacular!! It has all of the conveniences of home, very modern. My room was a room fit for a queen. I slept well. The next day, I woke up to a nice Jordanian breakfast that Bev prepared, which was very delicious. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the grand terrace that Bev has overlooking the beautiful city of Wadi Musa. The view from the terrace is truly a million dollar view. You would have to see it to believe it! The view from the terrace is so spectacular, that I spent my first week at the bed and breakfast out on the terrace finishing a book that I was reading. I was a solo traveler and didn't want to see the sites alone so I asked Bev if she would accompany me. Not only did she accompany me, her daughter, and two grandchildren came along also. They are sooo adorable! It was like a family vacation! They took me everywhere, even places that I didn't have on my list of places to visit. They wanted to make sure that my trip to Jordan would be one for the history books. We started our adventure by going to Little Petra. It was awesome!! That was my first Taste of Jordan. No pun intended. Let me pause here for a moment to tell you about another opportunity in Petra Jordan that you may not have heard of. A Piece of Jordan, owned by Bev's daughter Steph Twassi is a Petra based community initiative that gives you the chance to meet the people of Petra, experience delicious home cooked local dishes, and/or head off into the lesser travelled surrounding Petra Mountains. See: www.apieceofjordan.com for details of these experiences. We also visited the old village up in the hills of Wadi Musa and visited a family in Um Sayhoun (Bedouin Village). Bedouin Village is the village that the government initially built when they decided to remove everyone from inside Petra, so the people who used to live in the caves now live in Um Sayhoun. Week 2: We went on a tour around Shoback Castle in the city of Shoback where a guide told us the the history of the castle, and we saw the damage the earthquakes had caused. It was eye opening, to say the least. Also during the second week we were invited to dinner by some amazing Jordanian families, that prepared some amazing Jordanian dishes. The highlight of my second week was my trip to Petra. Bev and I got to ride a donkey for the very first time. While we were there, I learned about the Bedouin culture. I even climbed half way up to the monastery. The donkey carried me the rest of the way. Later that night, we had pizza in the park near the bed and breakfast. The park has swings, slides, monkey bars; everything for the kids to enjoy while staying at the bed and breakfast. You can also get just about anything in Jordan that you can get in America, chips, soda, candy, etc. Week 3: We spent an amazing 3 days in Aqaba on the Red Sea. It was mesmerizing!! We also visited Wadi Rum. What a dazzling Red City it is! Week 4: We went to see the rock that Moses struck. Water still flows from it! I even drank some of the water and took some with me to add to my bath. We went to Boseirah, the site of the Edomites. The old city of Edom. A cite that is mentioned in end times prophecy. We went to Amman and visited the Amman Citadel, home to Hercules. We visited Mount Nebo the mountain where Moses looked over and seen the promised land. We visited Karak Castle and took some mind blown pictures. When you go, you have to go to La Storia Tourism Complex. It is a Museum near Madaba where scenes from the Bible comes to life! They have a nice store there where you can buy almost anything in mosaics from tables to wall art. We visited Ajloun Castle. AMAZING!! It looks just like the castle in the movie Black Knights starring Martin Lawrence. We went to the city of Jerash, it's known for the ruins of the walled Greco-Roman settlement of Gerasa just outside the modern city. It was home to Titus and King Agrippa. It houses the Jerash Archaeological Museum. All of the places that we visited have Archeological Museums and most have gift shops on site. We stayed in Madaba for a seven-day adventure. We visited The Dead Sea, which wasn't to far away. It was AMAZING! It was a turquoise blue and the scenery was gorgeous! We covered ourselves in mud and floated in the Dead Sea. How cool is that!!! We went to the Jordan River where John The Baptist Baptized Jesus. I even dipped in the Jordan River. On our last day, we went to the Greek Orthodox Church in Madaba to see a map of the Middle East. Part of it contains the oldest surviving original cartographic depiction of the Holy Land and especially Jerusalem. It dates to the 6th century AD. You will not go wrong by booking with Bev at Bedayah Bed and Breakfast. She is one on the kindest, most loving, and humbled people I have met in my life time. She will go out of her way to accommodate you, I guarantee it! After spending 31 days with her, she became the best friend that I thought I would never meet. I grew very fund of her daughter Steph and her two precious grand children. We had a blast! Her and Steph welcomed me with opened arms and treated me like royalty. I flew into the wrong airport but they didn't hesitate. They drove 3 hours to pick me up. Bev made my trip to Jordan a spiritual adventure I will never forget. I not only gained a friend, I gained an entire family. Barbara
