Mein Haus ist in der historischen Mitte von Santiago de Cuba, nahe der resisdencial TivolÃ-Nachbarschaft, Plaza de Cespedes, internationalem Puerto und anderen Orten von interÃ©s.Vivo mit meiner Mutter und meinen Töchtern. Ich habe zwei Räume mit gedeckter Terrasse und eine Freiterrasse auf dem Dachgeschoss, die Räume haben Fernseh-, Kühlraum-, heißes und kalteswasser, Badezimmer, das wifi und parken. Das Haus hat drei Aufenthaltsräume und Innenpatio mit Garten. Ich bin ein Reiseführer vom Reisebüro Cubatur und spreche einige Sprachen, Englisch, Franzosen, italienisch und portugiesisch, bin ich laurada russische Sprache.

After booking i received a mail the day before arrival where she said that unfortunately the room is already booked and that she can have a place in an other casa. I declined because i exepected to be in the place as described and told her if she could cancelled the booking to have the fees paided back. But she didn't make it and answer something i don't understand. So she keeped the fees (5$) without anybody to take care.... Smart. As excuse she finished to say that she tried to contact homestay to solve the problem but i doubt on it, she just had to cancel the reservation so i'll be paided back. Be careful... I don't recommande you to book here.

The location is great, very close to the centre of Santiago, walking distance. The lady was very helpfull and friendly. The house has a great terrace. The rooms are average but clean. The breakfast very good. We took two tours organized by Maite and everything worked well. I would reccoment this place in case you visit Saintiago, special city which is definitely worth to experience :) We had great time in Cuba and its people who deserve a better life!

While I am a regular visitor to Cuba, I have only traveled to Santiago two or three times in my two decades traveling to the country. I booked my room with Mayte on homeaway, and am so happy I did. We corresponded several times before I arrived in Cuba, though my access to wifi in Havana left me unable to confirm when I’d be arriving in Santiago. She expected me a day before I got there, and sent a worried message that I did not receive until I was already in her house. In any case, we arrived to her beautiful home in Santiago’s historic district exhausted from a long bus-ride before 9am. Her mother and an attendant offered my daughter and me breakfast, and we readily accepted. We ate on the lovely garden terrace next to the guest rooms upstairs. Next was the shower: my daughter called it “extra fancy.” There is a large oval shower area with a shower feature that rained directly down on you. My daughter was able to use the hand-held hose, though I was never able to figure that “fancy” part out. In any case, the hot water was particularly welcome after the long bus-ride. By the time my daughter and I headed out in search of what Santiago had to offer, Mayte was home. She is an incredibly friendly woman with an angelic presence. As a person of faith in a country that is officially atheist, Mayte unhesitatingly opened her home to us on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. She speaks several languages, and my teenaged daughter particularly appreciated hearing English after the long trip across the country. She is very knowledgeable and can help you with pretty much anything, including access to wifi! The house is only a few blocks from the central city park in the historic district, Parque Cespedes. You will find some good restaurants in the area as well (we especially enjoyed Restaurante Caribe, two blocks from Mayte’s). In any case, you cannot help but enjoy your stay in Santiago if you stay with Mayte. Hers is a beautiful and clean home not far from wherever you want to be!

Nice casa, the host is a buzzy woman, so running things is done by grandma. Who doesn't spreek English.

Mercedes is wonderful. She is very friendly and helpful. I had a very nice and quiet room. The breakfast on the terrace was rich and good. The center of Santiago is 5 minutes from the property. Ideal. I love Santiago. Thank you, Mercedes.

Maite tries to help you wherever she can. Her English is very good by the way (because she works as a guide for tourists on group tours). The room is surprisingly quiet for being in the city center, because only the bathroom has a ventilated window. The breakfast is included, which was quiet good breakfast for being free! Both rooms are next to the roof terrace. But I guess I was at the good place at the wrong time. Because the roof terrace was being renovated. (I.e. breakfast downstairs and laundry dries next to the kitchen.) Internet also wasn't available because of an upgrade by Etecsa. This being a temporary problem, the room is really good value for a cheap and quiet room with breakfast included!

I had a great time, my room was comfy and I had a nicely decorated bathroom. I liked the roof terrace where you can spend time, enjoy the plants and decoration of the terreace or watch people go by

Pasé 4 buenos dias en la casa de Mercedes Maite. Es una persona muy amable que te da consejos para que tus dias en Santiago de Cuba se pasan bien. El desayuno esta rico y la habitacion muy limpia y la casa en el centro de la ciudad. Una buena casa para tus dias en este ciudad para compartir con la familia y discubrir la ciudad. Muchas gracias por estos dias en su casa, y mucho gusto conocerte y tu ciudad !
